Should you mine solo or join a mining pool?

Pool mining advantages
Pooling combines computing power with other miners to find blocks more frequently and share rewards proportionally. You receive small, predictable payments. Pools handle most technical overhead. This is realistic for most people—you get coins steadily instead of hoping to randomly solve a block.
Solo mining reality
Solo mining means you keep 100% of rewards when you find a block, but you might find one per month, per year, or never. The math only works for miners with industrial-scale hardware and cheap electricity. For typical home miners, solo mining is essentially not viable in most cryptocurrencies today.
Pool considerations
Pools charge 1–3% fees. Some pools are more reliable than others, but there's no clear "best"—reputation varies. Pools go offline, merge with other pools, or close unpredictably. Diversifying across multiple small pools reduces risk of losing earnings if one fails. Research a pool's uptime and user reviews before committing.
